FINAL WHISTLE BLOWS ON UBF’S INAUGURAL INTER-BANK FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT
UAE Banks Federation (UBF) has successfully concluded the first Inter-Bank Football Tournament (IBFT) after four weeks of exciting competition. The closing ceremony took place at Dubai Sports City, after 30 teams from 24 participating UBF member banks came together to compete for valuable rewards that were donated in full to Emirates Red Crescent, solidifying their commitment to develop UAE society and promote CSR activities among its community.
After a competitive final round of outstanding matches, RAK Bank were crowned champions, while Al Hilal Bank came second and Noor Bank came third. Trophies were also given to the tournament’s best goalkeeper and highest scorer.
Commenting on final results, H.E. AbdulAziz Al Ghurair, Chairman of UAE Banks Federation, said: “As the backbone of UAE economy, it is important that the banking sector comes together to support the development of the local community. Committed to social responsibility, participant teams of 24 banks have contributed in a large role to promote CSR, this time not by donation presented by directly by banks, but via the collective efforts of the employees themselves, reassuring that every person can make a difference. This initiative marked a huge success, providing a great friendly atmosphere and an unforgettable experience between banks employees and their families.”
IBFT was the first philanthropic initiative undertaken by UBF this year that brought the banking community together under one roof. The mandate of the tournament was to encourage a spirit of collaboration and promote a healthy relationship between banks while giving back to the UAE community.
“I would like to congratulate all the winners and thanks all participants for their efforts. The passion and excitement shown by everybody involved was exceptional. We look forward to hosting more initiatives that unify the banking community for the betterment of society,” H.E concluded.
Mr. Mohammed Abdullah Al Haj Al Zarooni, Director of the Red Crescent Authority - Dubai, said: "These initiatives are in line with the "Year of Tolerance" and are dedicated to the integration of the private sector and financial institutions with the principles of humanitarian action, social responsibility, and the guidance of our country leaders in driving the UAE economy, development and humanity to the forefront.
UBF has always been committed to supporting the Government’s efforts in serving the community, and has constantly encouraged its member banks to be part of impactful CSR initiatives.
